Making the Most of Your Space with Basement Excavation

Arnett Excavation discusses basement excavation in the greater Phoenix area.

Whether you are building a new home or working on an existing structure, there are many reasons why you might want to consider adding a basement. While basements of the past have a reputation for being dark, damp and musty places where the furnace and other household appliances are kept, the reality is that the basement excavation can be a vibrant addition to the home. In fact, many homeowners choose to build a basement so they can add rooms such as:

  • Extra Kitchens
  • Extra Bedrooms
  • Extra Bathrooms
  • Playrooms
  • Laundry Rooms
  • Living Rooms
  • Music Rooms/Recording Studios
  • Home Offices
  • Home Cinemas
  • Gyms/Saunas

Some homeowners even choose to use their basement space to add an indoor swimming pool.

The Great Basement Divide

In some parts of the country, basements are less frequently built as a matter of practice when constructing a new home. When building a foundation in the south, for example, it is not necessary to dig as deep in order to get below the frost line and create a stable structure. In the north, it is necessary to dig four to five feet deep in order to get below the frost line. As such, building a basement has often become a part of standard practice. This doesn’t mean one shouldn’t be built in the south or in warmer climates, however, as a basement helps to make better use of the available land and space. At Arnett Excavating, we specialize in all types of excavation, including basement excavation. Contact us to learn more about how we can help you with all of your Phoenix excavation needs.
